VISITORS to the Harrogate Flooring Show this month who stay at the Majestic Hotel will discover striking new carpets in the corridors and bedrooms. The hotel, now managed by the Barcelo Group, has undergone an extensive refurbishment since the disastrous fire last year.
Working with architectural interior design firm, Charles Leon Associates, LANO FLOORING SOLUTIONS supplied 2000sq m of carpet, designed to reflect the building’s heritage and the owner’s modern ambitions. Based on traditional Persian rugs and animal motifs, the carpets feature a contemporary twist through colour and the interpretation of design elements.
‘The design flows from modernised traditional through to contemporary as you move through the hotel, flowing softly into the guestrooms,’ says Joumana Khodr, interior designer, Charles Leon Associates.
‘We wanted to give the Majestic Hotel a carpet with a blend of style and performance and thanks to Lano, we were able to deliver both. A contemporary take on traditional textile design, not only in colour but also pattern and scale now adorns the corridors and guest bedrooms.’
The 80/20 wool/nylon nine-row Axminster in the bedrooms is designed for durability and appearance retention. An eight-row construction was used in the bedrooms.
The flooring contractor was Stephen Donohue of Pocklington Carpets.
