Ideal prescription for cancer centre project

PRODUCTS from F BALL & Co have been used as part of a major development to create a Satellite Cancer Centre at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

The hospital needed a floor able to withstand heavy usage and vigorous cleaning while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing finish.

A moisture test undertaken on the subfloor, using a Protimeter MMS2, found readings of 999, well above the at risk reading of 200.

There was insufficient time to allow the subfloor to dry naturally, flooring contractors Mode Flooring Ltd applied two coats of Stopgap F78 One Component Waterproof Surface Membrane.

Stopgap F78 solvent-free waterproof surface membrane is said to impede the passage of residual construction moisture from affecting subsequent floorcovering installations.

Once the surface membrane was dry, contractors used F.Ball’s Stopgap Green Bag mixed with Stopgap 114 Liquid to achieve a level surface ready for the application of F Ball’s Styccobond F44 high bond strength adhesive.

F Ball claims with its strong initial tack and long open time, F44 was ideal for ensuring the floorcovering was securely adhered.

Mode Flooring Ltd director Andrew Searle said: “I use F Ball products a lot on a day to day basis so I know the products will be reliable.”
