Desso & Northumbria University
NORTHUMBRIA University’s Pandon building has reportedly been given a new look with a combination of the Desso Essence collection, Salt and Rock carpet tiles. Tarkett worked with GT3 Architects who led the project, to create what it describes as a striking new office space for the university’s estates and HR departments.
The unusual shape of the building was reflected in the flooring, with a reportedly vibrant colour scheme and bold shapes used to create separate breakout areas.
Tarkett’s Desso Essence Structure carpet tiles were selected in neutral grey shades for communal areas, said to create a flowing pattern to encourage movement across the floor. Blue and grey hues were introduced with Desso Salt, presenting what Desso describes as subtle layers of colour to enhance the dynamic space. The minimalistic carpet designs were contrasted with bright blue bursts of colour, presented by the Desso Rock and Essence Stripe carpet tiles.
The ‘calming’ shades of Essence Structure and Salt set against the ‘bold’ shades of Rock and Essence Stripe, not only helped define and divide clear zones within the office, but also give a playful, energetic atmosphere to the entire space, Desso says.
