John Lewis and Anglo Recycling
JOHN LEWIS has reinforced its support for carpet recycling by featuring a video on its main website (https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-upcycled-felt-and-rubber-underlay-137cm-width/p2401205) of how it works alongside underlay supplier, Anglo Recycling, to take its carpet fitters’ offcuts, that used to go to landfill, and make them into an underlay.
John Lewis says it’s always been a big supporter of Carpet Recycling UK (CRUK) which announced at the end of 2016 that carpet recycling had gone from 3% in 2008 to 35% in 2016.
Jane Gardner of CRUK said: ‘We really appreciate the support of our major retail members. John Lewis has shown that working in partnership with Anglo Recycling, and with innovation and an entrepreneurial approach, it can divert substantial amounts of carpet from landfill and provide an underlay its partners are proud to sell and its customers really appreciate.’
Indeed, a customer from Harrogate reportedly commented on JohnLewis.com about the upcycled felt/rubber underlay produced by Anglo Recycling exclusively for John Lewis:
‘This material was recommended by the John Lewis flooring specialist. We’ve found it to be good for reducing noise and is effective insulation.
‘On a less practical level its bouncy texture make it’s a pleasure to walk in bare feet across the carpet!’
