MARLBOROUGH Primary School has been educating and inspiring children for 140 years. The school, which is said to be the heart of the community, recently underwent extensive redevelopment and included creating a new primary school.

A series of garden terraces cascading from east to west allow direct connections between internal and external learning areas supporting a diverse range of teaching, play and social areas. Natural ventilation and daylight play an important part throughout the school.

Flooring is integral to the overall aesthetics and safety in the school and noraplan ultragrip and noraplan sentica were chosen to compliment the aesthetics and provide safety in the school. Both products are claimed to provide durability, excellent slip resistance and high sound absorption.

‘nora floorings are renowned the world over for superior durability and long-lasting comfort thanks to the excellent ergonomic properties,’ says the company.

Dixon Jones Architects was reportedly keen to ensure the building adopted a low energy passive approach to minimise running costs and future maintenance. The design of the school has apparently proven to be so outstanding it’s won two RIBA awards and the AJ School Project of the Year Award 2018.
