Stone - Mapei

WHEN installing ceramic, porcelain or natural stone there may be a requirement to provide an anti-fracture membrane.

Mapeguard WP 200 reportedly offers a suitable solution, ‘with an ultra thin anti-fracture and waterproofing membrane suitable for the installation of ceramic, porcelain and luxury vinyl tiles, as well as natural stone’.
The membrane comprises of three layers of polypropylene and polyethylene and is less than 0.5mm thick. At this thickness, the membrane can be used as an anti-fracture membrane, or the whole system or waterproofing and anti-fracture.

Part of the Mapei safety net group of products, Mapeguard has been developed to relieve the finishes on the floor or wall that may be placed under stress from movement in the substrate – an example of this is expansion or contraction through temperature or humidity changes.

‘While the product provides protection to the finishes in this way, it may also be used as a waterproofing layer protecting the substrate from water penetration,’ says Mapei.
‘Mapeguard WP 200 system comprises of Mapeguard WP 200 membrane, Mapeguard WP adhesive, gaskets and tapes, and can be used as a full wet-room system.’
