Paul Robson joins Interfloor to lead its new acoustics division

PAUL Robson has joined Interfloor as acoustics products director to lead its new acoustics division. With more than 20 years’ experience as managing director at InstaCoustic/InstaFloor, where he was responsible for what’s described as significant growth and supplying high performance acoustic insulation, sports and flooring products to the UK and global markets, Paul will lead the new division to further develop its range of sound-reducing products.

Paul will also build on the success of innovative underlays such as Decibel Soundseal, which was a 2019 winner at the National Flooring Innovation Awards in the Innovations Gold Winner Installation category.

Interfloor introduced the Decibel Soundseal System with what’s described as its unique, noise-reducing application to its range, as suitable for refurbishment and newbuild projects.
The system is reportedly suitable for most acoustics problems associated with floor constructions and is certified and extensively tested to European standards.

For hard flooring, one of the most important benefits of specialist underlays is a reduction in impact sound and the Duralay Timbermate range includes the best-selling sponge rubber Timbermate Excel and Silentfloor Gold. Tests show in-room acoustics can worsen if inferior underlays are used under hard flooring; a lightweight, air-filled, cellular product creates an echo chamber and amplifies the sound.

Duralay Timbermate underlays reduce in-room noise by up to 30%. Independent tests prove the products, ‘with their superior weight and density, significantly reduce acoustic noise levels and all have achieved low SONE ratings and impressive sound reduction ratings’.

Silentfloor Gold is said to achieve a substantial sound reduction of 24dB and Timbermate Excel is close behind with 23dB.
