Sprug Gym Flooring is a UK and Ireland gym and sports floor supplier

SPRUNG Gym Flooring is a UK and Ireland gym and sports floor supplier experienced in rubber, wood and vinyl floor surfaces for gyms, sports centres, community centres, schools, and home fitness spaces. The company says it has propelled its way to the top of the fitness flooring market owing to what it describes as its unique, versatile ranges, strong social media engagement and quality customer service.

Specifically, Sprung Gym Flooring has been heavily invested in the home gym and fitness studio market. During lockdown with no access to commercial gyms, the demand for fitness floor solutions for garage, basement, outdoor and home gyms substantially increased.

The company wanted to offer gym floor installers floor tiles and roll formats that could easily be fitted while satisfying all uses and tastes.

A recent case study from October 2020 demonstrates the positive impact a well-chosen product and simple application can make on a home gym design.

A keen fitness trainer from Milton Keynes required a generous space to carry out functional training, cross-fit and free weight activities. As the existing floor was concrete, the client wished to protect the surface from damage from weights and heavy gym equipment.

‘The best solution for these activities was the 30mm Sprung HD tiles (standard range) as they are the thickest tile option below the Antishock range which are for heavy and Olympic weights and begin at 40mm upwards.

‘30mm is a popular option for medium to high impact activity as well as general fitness withstanding up to 200kg weights. With fantastic sound reducing properties, compatible with underfloor heating and has matching ramp/corner sections, Sprung 30mm ticked all the boxes.

Installation: The installer followed the Installation Guide provided to fit the tiles using the compression method with no adhesive. A major benefit of the Sprung tiles is that they can be loose laid. The tiles uniformly butt together and owing to their weight they remain in position. Some clients decide on using a little bit of adhesive for increased permanence, but it’s not a requirement.

Sprung HD Standard tiles can easily be cut to size using a utility knife. A user-friendly Installation guide is provided with all tiles.

Results: With regards to the finished look and feel of the tiles, the customer commented on the durability and resilience of the flooring.

Client quotes: Clients have said they’re coping well with the changing temperature of the gym and finds it to be robust and good quality. ‘It completes the functional fitness look I wanted from the space and means that through these tough times I’ve been able to get into the garage, there’s more space than any gym I’ve used and it’s my space. It’s kept me happy mentally this year.’

According to Sprung, creating a space for fitness isn’t difficult but making the correct choice of floor is key to reaping the benefits of a well-executed design. By opening a previously disused area and having a designated fitness space and a place for carefully arranged storage means less ‘dusty corners’, and a greater quality use of your time when enjoying your chosen activities.

Although an e-commerce business, Sprung says it offers a superb advisory service to aid users who are unsure of what they want or need.

Conclusion: Can a good home gym design enhance your lifestyle? Sprung Flooring believes if you invest in the right floor product and give the installation a go then you can enjoy your workouts from home with true ownership of your space while motivating you to reach your fitness goals.
