HERRINGBONE and chevron flooring has long been associated with luxury and grandeur in stately homes and a marker for style and affluence, and the Tuscan Modelli collection reimagines this sought-after look with a choice of elegant designs and premium quality that will create a stunning focal point in any room, says IDS.
Designed to suit traditional and contemporary interiors, the Tuscan Modelli wood flooring range is said to comprise what’s described as three beautifully crafted geometric chevron designs and two classic herringbone options in a choice of sophisticated natural and darker oaks to suit all tastes.
Says IDS: ‘Reflecting the luxurious European designs of the 1800s, Modelli chevron brings this time-honoured style up to date with a more modern geometric zig-zag effect appealing to a younger audience. Available in Natural, Light Smoked and Dark Stained Oak, the chevron designs provide a stylish and hardwearing flooring solution, which is a particularly good choice in narrow living spaces as the design creates an illusion of space.’
The Modelli Herringbone designs of Smoked Oak and Black Stained Oak replicate the classic parquet look with staggered planks laid at 90deg angles which are said to make an elegant, enduring design statement in any interior setting.
The five Tuscan Modelli designs are crafted from prime grade A/B oak which guarantees better quality and visual aesthetics with fewer knots, splits and fillers compared to lesser grade alternatives. The authentic and sophisticated style is further enhanced with the brushed texture of the timber and timeless UV-oiled finish.
Says Gail Alcock, flooring director for Tuscan: ‘There’s a strong design trend towards patterned flooring with consumers wanting to combine the tradition of chevron and herringbone with modern natural or dark colour tones. The Tuscan Modelli collection captures this classic contemporary look in a high-quality wood flooring that will do all the talking in any room.
‘While these geometric patterned designs have been replicated across other hard floor categories, wood flooring offers the added benefit of extra warmth due to its ability to retain heat for longer periods, which is why it remains a popular choice. The flooring is very in tune with current interior trends but at the same time will also provide long-lasting pleasure, which is what you want from a wood floor.’
Continues IDS: ‘The Tuscan Modelli designs are precision engineered onto a strong and stable plywood with a 4mm veneer and feature four bevelled edges which enhance the aesthetics of the chevron and herringbone pattern. The chevron designs are supplied in 15x190x450mm planks while the herringbone options measure 15x122x610mm.
‘The tongue-and-groove system provides a full stick down installation method with the flexibility for a range of applications in the domestic and contract market. The designs will appeal to installers looking for a point of differentiation in their portfolio.’
Alcock adds: ‘Installing the Modelli Chevron designs can bring a sense of job satisfaction to installers as it shows off their expertise as a fitter. Although the planks are not especially difficult to install, the planning of the room requires an extra level of expertise to ensure the pattern is spread in a uniform way from the centre of the room.’
Concludes IDS: ‘Like all products in the Tuscan wood flooring collection, the Modelli range is compatible with water-piped underfloor heating systems and offers strong environmental credentials, being 100% FSC certified with a new tree planted for every flooring pack sold.
‘Tuscan Modelli is supported by a professional Point of Sale package including display stand, samples and a lifestyle brochure. The Tuscan flooring range comes with a 25-year warranty and is distributed by International Decorative Surfaces with ex-stock availability from all branches nationwide for 24-48 hour delivery.’
