Flooring firm stays on right side of the law by helping restore fire damage

ULTRAFLOOR, manufacturers of subfloor preparation materials, and commercial flooring contractors, Tyrrell Flooring, have helped restore the historic Law Society headquarters after being ravaged by a fire.

Background
CFA and FeRFA member, Tyrrell Flooring, has been part of a £7.5m restoration project at the historic Law Society headquarters on Chancery Lane, London. In February 2020, a fire ripped through the iconic building and caused extensive damage to the roof, fifth, fourth and third floors, including the offices of their in-house paper, The Law Society Gazette.

The challenge
The requirements of this project were extensive. Every area of the 1,500sq m restoration had a different substrate and therefore product selection was critical to help restore this beautiful building back to its original state.

The solution
Specialists in commercial flooring for more than 60 years, Tyrrell Flooring reportedly knew using UltraFloor subfloor preparation materials was the best choice for a successful outcome.

Tyrrell Flooring selected Prime IT Multi-surface Primer, Suppress IT, Level IT Bond, Level IT Super Flex 30, Level IT Super30 and Grip & Grab IT to prepare the existing floorboards, plywood, and screeded subfloors for the installation of Milliken carpet tiles, nora Rubber and Polyflor floorcoverings.

UltraFloor says it’s been supplying the flooring market with a range of smoothing underlayments, moisture protection products, repair and finishing compounds, and ancillaries including a primer and adhesive, for more than 15 years.
‘UltraFloor is dedicated to providing its loyal customers with quality products and exceptional support and service that never lets them down. Choose UltraFloor for all your flooring needs.’

Results
According to the company: ‘Great value, fantastic product offering, and superb customer service are just some of the reasons why Tyrrell Flooring chose to use UltraFloor at this prestigious location.’

On the performance of the products, Charlie Mason, contractors manager for Tyrrell Flooring, commented: ‘We used many different materials on this project which was good to see how they all coped with the situation. I was very impressed with Grip & Grab IT.
‘The initial grab was fantastic yet was still able to move it around if needed. The UltraFloor range exceeded our expectations on this project and we are happy with the results.’
