Find new opportunities at the Academy
FOR anyone looking to begin their flooring career in a manner that ensures the basis of good practice throughout their time in the industry, the Academy for Excellence in Flooring’s Foundation Installer courses are said to be ideal.
Available for LVT (one-day) and laminate and wood (two-days), Foundation Installer courses are designed to give entrants into the industry a firm footing. Covering the basics of correct flooring installation, candidates will learn about various aspects of subfloor preparation and installation, providing the basic knowledge and confidence to install a wood, laminate or vinyl floor.
Mixing a range of classroom-based teaching and hands-on practical coaching, the Foundation Installer: Laminate & Wood course takes place over two-days at the Academy’s newly refurbished Manchester facility.
The same mix of knowledge and practical experience applies for Foundation Installer: LVT, with the course lasting one-day. Once successfully completed, the course can open up a fast-track route to Master Installer status in just six months.
Lee Thompson, technical and procurement manager, Academy for Excellence in Flooring said: ‘Lockdown saw a boost in enquiries in our foundation courses, from people looking towards a new career to DIYers wanting to upscale skills and knowledge. As a start in the industry, both LVT and laminate and wood courses offer a great way to build a really solid understanding of the principles that underline good practice.
‘Being able to access the Master Installer programme within just six months, with its proven source of business, taking part in the Foundation Installer course is also a great way to unlock the beginnings of a really successful career in the industry.’
In order to ensure its Foundation Installer courses can run in complete safety, the Academy has implemented a range of protective measures, with courses limited to four candidates at a time, and pre-assignment of training bays and materials.
