FIONA Bowman MBA CBIFM, FCMI and architect Simon Jackson MSCD will be the guest speakers at the launch of The Specifier’s Guide to Flooring during Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) on 23 May. The launch will take place at the Shaw Contract showrooms.

Fiona is an inspirational author, liveryman and senior FM consultant, Fiona Bowman. She qualified as an MBA in 2000, is a certified member of the British Institute of Facilities Managers and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.

She was made a Freeman of the City of London in 2015 and was clothed as a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals in November 2016.

Fiona’s career in FM has spanned three decades, operating in the City of London and in national and international FM roles. She began her FM career as a faculty manager at South Bank University, then as a project manager working for HSBC/ Midland Property, refurbishing three floors of a building in Barking, Essex.

She later became the property manager for Moscow, Paris and Zurich offices for Goldman Sachs, latterly managing the hard and soft services contracts for Europe.

Her reputation grew as her career gathered pace. She was appointed ISS general manager of the iconic Lloyds of London Building in Lime Street for four years, moving on to a role as mobilisation manager for the ISS Addleshaw Goddard National FM contract, then was headhunted for a client-side role as head of facilities for Lloyds Register in Fenchurch Street.

She’s now managing director of her own business, operating as a sought-after FM consultant, with successful terms as interim head of facilities in several London boroughs including Croydon, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest, during the past four years.

Fiona will talk about some of the interesting flooring challenges she has encountered in the buildings she’s managed and will also talk about her Scottish flooring roots, her journey to the City and her more recent personal achievements.

Simon Jackson recently set up sjjdc, a design consultancy collective undertaking in-depth strategic advice and change management and full interior design services in the office, residential and hospitality sectors.
