HAVING opened in September 2024, the Springmoor Grange School hosts 630 primary school pupils, alongside a 52-place nursery unit for children aged two and older.
Designed and funded by Durham County Council, with main contract works carried out by ESH Construction, the school was located on the site of the former Tudhoe Grange Comprehensive School and has been hailed as a significant investment in accommodating demand for school places and giving children the best start in life.
The project was originally specified for a 75mm traditional sand and cement screed but switched to Cemfloor to meet UV 0.15 W/sq m K.
Says Cemfloor: ‘Owing to the benefits of Cemfloor, including its exceptional thermal conductivity, and the fact it can be installed at thinner sections compared to traditional screeds, IFT expertly installed 50mm Cemfloor onto EPS150 & PIR Insulation, with separating layer and DPM.’
The Cemfloor was supplied by Aggregate Industries’ Gateshead plant.
