Veitchi delivers flooring for JP Morgan’s Glasgow HQ

THE new JP Morgan headquarters on Argyle Street in Glasgow brings together design, functionality and quality materials, with Veitchi Flooring responsible for the flooring installation across the building.

Appointed by Multiplex Global to deliver the flooring package for the project, Veitchi was required to achieve high standards of finish, meet timescales, and coordinate with other trades within a busy city centre location. Most of the installation was completed by two tradesmen and an apprentice, with a peak team of five on-site.

Across the building’s multiple levels, a range of flooring types was installed. Milliken carpet tiles were laid throughout levels 2 to 13. Level 1 featured Kingspan Attiro flooring installed directly onto raised access panels, also completed by Veitchi. Bolon Fabrico was used on levels 1 and 10.

The basement area was fitted with Gerflor Creation tiles, giving the corridors and lift lobbies a clean, modern finish, while Veitchi Industrial completed the painted bike storage areas.

Working in the centre of Glasgow presented logistical challenges, including restricted delivery slots and limited site access on busy public streets. These were managed through regular coordination and weekly meetings between Veitchi and Multiplex to maintain progress and ensure consistent quality. Contracts supervisor John Purdie oversaw operations, providing guidance and support to the flooring team throughout the build.

Subfloor preparation was minimal due to the raised access flooring system. The basement area required a single-coat DPM and Mapei Plantrade. The project ran from August 2023 to April 2024 and was completed on schedule.

Sustainability was an important consideration throughout the project. Operatives used public transport to reduce emissions, deliveries were made directly to site to limit vehicle use, and waste vinyl and cardboard were sent for recycling. Key suppliers, including Milliken and Gerflor, operate sustainability programmes focused on air quality, responsible sourcing, and circular product design.

Patrick Culbert, package manager at Multiplex, said: ‘I have enjoyed working with you guys immensely and your team performed really good even through some challenging times. It’s great to see the finished product after all the hard work. Very efficient and approachable operatives on-site.’

The project is said to demonstrate Veitchi’s ability to deliver large, complex flooring installations in city centre environments while maintaining standards of quality and efficiency.
