Fassa Bortolo has arrived, making itsmark on UK flooring and construction

FASSA Bortolo is staking its claim in the UK market, ensuring contractors, specifiers, and distributors across the flooring and construction sectors know the brand has arrived. ‘Our aim at shows and events is to promote the Fassa name so people start recognising who we are,’ says Dale Telling, commercial manager of Fassa UK. ‘It’s the perfect way for the industry to see our extensive portfolio and understand the quality and innovation behind every product.’
Heritage and innovation
The roots of Fassa Bortolo stretch back over three centuries. The first historical evidence of a family member involved in the processing of lime dates back to 1710, a land survey documenting this ancient craft. ‘Lime is the basic component of any building work and for Fassa Bortolo it’s a fundamental element of all our solutions,’ says Dale. ‘This tradition has been renewed from generation to generation, combining research, innovation, and technology with care for the environment.’
Over the years, Fassa Bortolo became synonymous with the introduction of premixed plasters in Italy, later expanding abroad, providing versatile solutions suitable for all types of construction work.
The Fassa Group currently has 22 production sites, of which 18 are in Italy, 1 in Portugal, 2 in Spain (of which 1 is in the final stages of construction), and 1 in Brazil. In addition, it includes 4 commercial branches in Italy, 2 in Switzerland, 1 in France, 1 in Spain and 1 in Great Britain, with a staff of over 1,900 employees and sales force.
‘We started off in raw materials over 315 years ago,’ Dale adds. ‘We own quarries, manage resources like lime, and burn and grade it ourselves. That means we can transform raw materials
into anything: cement mixes, renders, adhesives, grouts. Being in control of the material from start to finish ensures quality, reliability, and innovation.’
UK expansion and the horizontal sector
In the UK, Fassa Bortolo has concentrated heavily on the vertical sector, specialising in renders and external finishes, with considerable success. Now, the company is broadening its scope to include adhesives, water-proofers, levellers, and grouts, bringing its heritage, expertise, and
innovative technologies to new areas of the construction market.
Entering the flooring market
For the first time, Fassa UK is entering the flooring sector, combining its technical know-how with user-friendly adhesives, grouts, and innovative materials. New products include rapid and standard set adhesives and a comprehensive range of grouts designed for efficiency, versatility,
and superior colour matching.
Experienced staff from the flooring industry have joined the team, and sales and marketing efforts are expanding to reach specifiers and contractors across the UK.
Sustainability in practice
Sustainability remains central to the Fassa approach. Factories are powered in part by use of by-products such as wood chippings from nearby manufacturing, while intermodal rail transport reduces emissions by moving lorries of products by train through Europe. Product beginning to be accompanied an EPD as well as an annual sustainability report, while control over raw materials ensures efficient use and minimal waste.
UK team and future plans
Fassa UK currently employs about 35 people. Dale leads the branch. Dale himself brings a wealth of experience, having worked across the concrete and cement sectors, with the Royal British Architects, National Building Specification, RIBA CPD, and at Knauf Marmorit Renders before joining Fassain 2016.
‘The business has grown very quickly over the past 10 years,’ he reflects, noting the rapid development of the UK branch and its increasing influence across multiple construction sectors.

Looking ahead
Over the next few years, Fassa Bortolo UK aims to increase brand recognition, expand its presence in horizontal and flooring sectors. With a combination of heritage, technological innovation, sustainability, and a growing portfolio, the company is well positioned to make a
significant impact on the UK construction market.
‘Fassa is very innovative,’ Dale concludes. ‘We’re investing in new products, state-of-the-art production facilities. Our control of raw materials through to finished products ensures
quality and reliability: it’s what truly sets us apart in the market.
