F BALL and Co has appointed Steve Lane as technical representative for the East Midlands.
As one of F Ball’s regional technical representatives, he’ll provide expert technical advice and on-site assistance to flooring contractors across the region on best practice in subfloor preparation and floorcovering installation and how to get the most out of F Ball products. This will include conducting site visits and producing case-specific reports advising on the best course of action for particular flooring projects.

Flooring professionals may recognise Steve from the F Ball Centre of Excellence, where he previously worked alongside F Ball head of training Tim Green to deliver free training covering subfloor preparation and floorcovering installation through practical demonstrations and exercises using high-performance F Ball products.

Prior to that, Steve worked in the flooring trade for more than 30 years, starting his career as a flooring apprentice at 16 years old and fitting all kinds of textile and resilient floorcoverings in domestic and commercial settings.

He later started his own flooring business, building up a small team of floor fitters while always remaining hands-on. During this time, he developed a preference for F Ball subfloor preparation products and adhesives.

Commenting on his appointment, he said: ‘I’m excited to take the hands-on product knowledge and experience deployed as a training officer directly to professionals in the field.

‘As a flooring contractor using F Ball products, I gained first-hand experience engaging with the technical service department for assurance on best practice in particular situations, which will also be a valuable perspective to have as a technical representative myself.’
