Acoustic solution for wood flooring with Mapesonic CR

MAPEI says its ‘highly versatile’ Mapesonic CR provides a soundproofing solution, suitable for renovation projects.

Designed to counteract impact and footstep noise, the soundproof matting is applied directly onto the subfloor, without the need to remove existing floors and screeds.

Says Mapei, ‘As well as providing high acoustic performance, the thin section soundproofing membrane also offers a range of practical and environmental benefits.

‘Comprising of recycled and recyclable rubber and cork bound with polyurethane composite, Mapesonic CR matting can be used in ceramic, stone, resilient flooring, laminate and multi-layered wood floor installations.

‘The membrane is very low VOC, contributing towards LEED certification credits. A low thickness of 2-4mm eliminates threshold issues, promoting an easy installation, and the membrane also offers additional uncoupling and anti-fracture benefits.’

Continues the company, ‘Mapesonic CR is suitable for use with most substrates and can also be laid above radiant floors. New floor finishes can be bonded to the membrane surface after 24-48 hours.

‘For the installation of solid wood flooring, Mapei recommends using solvent-free adhesives: Ultrabond ECO S940 1K for planks up to 9cm wide, Ultrabond ECO S948 1K for planks up to 15cm wide and Ultrabond ECO S955 1K for all types and formats.’

All three adhesives can be used with engineered multilayer wood floors and each features a sylilated, polymer-based and EMICODE: EC1 Plus certified formulation.
