ATKINSON & KIRBY has expanded its engineered wood flooring range with the launch of its 20mm Heritage Parquet Collection. Designed to offer contractors a reliable, high-performance finish, Atkinson & Kirby says it’s first to the UK market with the finishing technology that combines super matt design with enhanced durability.
The collection is said to reflect the company’s continued focus on quality manufacturing, short lead times, and sustainable production practices, values that have reportedly long made the brand a trusted partner for the trade.
‘Engineered for quality and flexibility’
Says the company: ‘The Heritage Parquet Collection brings together classic herringbone and chevron formats with a robust 20mm engineered construction. Each board is manufactured to precise tolerances and features a 6mm wearlayer, ensuring long-term performance and allowing for multiple refinishes over the life of the floor.
‘The range includes 10 oak designs, among them Westbury, Somersby and Honeystreet, all selected for their tonal variation and natural grain detail. Four of these designs are also available in a 60-degree Chevron pattern, offering contractors the flexibility to create traditional and contemporary layouts.
‘The focus was on delivering a reliable specification that meets the expectations of contractors and supports the trade to exceed the expectations of homeowners,’ says Stuart Cottle, product manager.
‘We wanted to provide something versatile, durable and readily available for projects where quality and turnaround times are equally important.’
Fusion Hybrid finish
Says the company: ‘One of the most notable elements of the new range is the introduction of Atkinson & Kirby’s Fusion Hybrid finish, a first for the UK market. The finish combines the durability of lacquer with the understated aesthetic of oil-wax, resulting in a surface that is both practical and enhances the natural beauty of hardwood flooring.
‘The Fusion Hybrid coating offers six times more surface protection than a conventional oil-wax finish and 14 times the wear resistance, significantly reducing maintenance requirements and improving longevity.
‘The solvent-free, eco-friendly finish also makes the range suitable for allergy-sensitive and family environments, a growing consideration for contractors working in residential settings.’
‘Contractors are looking for finishes that perform under real-world conditions,’ adds Stuart. ‘Fusion Hybrid delivers that extra layer of assurance. It’s designed to handle everyday wear while maintaining the authentic texture and warmth of real wood.’
‘Performance and practicality’
Continues the company: ‘With its robust tongue-and-groove profile and engineered core, the Heritage Parquet Collection is built for stability and ease of installation. The tongue-and-groove feature allows for a straightforward fit, helping installers achieve accurate alignment across larger layouts.
‘The combination of a solid 20mm thickness, a 6mm wearlayer and the protective Fusion Hybrid coating ensures the flooring can withstand heavy domestic or commercial use while remaining easy to maintain.
‘This balance of craftsmanship and practicality positions the new collection as a dependable choice for flooring professionals who require both quality materials and reliable performance.’
‘Availability and service support’
Adds the company: ‘Atkinson & Kirby places strong emphasis on stock availability and efficient delivery, key priorities for contractors working to tight project timelines. The brand’s bespoke design support service is also available across the range, enabling contractors to specify made-to-order finishes and dimensions where projects demand something unique. This flexibility allows installers to respond to bespoke design briefs without compromising on quality or turnaround time.’
‘Atkinson & Kirby understands reliability is as important as design,’ Elliot Tait, head of specification sales explains. ‘Having a product available when it’s needed, with technical support to match, helps contractors complete projects efficiently and confidently.’
Sustainability and responsible sourcing
Sustainability remains a cornerstone of the Atkinson & Kirby brand, says the company. ‘All timber used within the Heritage Parquet Collection is sourced from responsibly managed forests and the Fusion Hybrid finish is manufactured using low-emission, solvent-free technology.
‘The company continues to operate under strict environmental management standards, ensuring that every stage of the production process, from raw material selection to packaging aligns with its sustainability objectives.’
A modern interpretation of heritage flooring
Says the company: ‘The Heritage Parquet Collection is designed to appeal to a broad range of projects, from period restorations to contemporary new builds. Its combination of traditional patterns engineered strength and innovative surface technology positions it as a flexible solution for both residential and commercial projects.
‘For contractors, the range provides a dependable and accessible choice: a floor that delivers the aesthetic value of handcrafted parquet with the installation efficiency and resilience of a modern engineered product.’
