PRACTICALITY, affordability and easy maintenance make vinyl flooring a popular choice but a good adhesive is crucial to its long-term performance.
In response, Mapei offers Ultrabond ECO 4 LVT Zero – a fibre-reinforced adhesive that it says provides an exceptionally strong, stable bond and a fast set, as well as a safe, environmentally-friendly application.
Manufactured in the UK, with CO2 fully offset in the entire lifecycle, Ultrabond ECO 4 LVT Zero is developed for the installation of vinyl floors, tiles and planks.
‘An EMICODE: EC1 Plus certified adhesive, with very low VOC, the adhesive has a highly shear resistant, hard set, wet bed, high temperature formulation that’s applied with a notched trowel. It’s characterised by a fast and strong initial grab, a rapid set and a rigid, cohesive final film which provides good dimensional stability.’
This eliminates shrinkage in areas of high temperature and solar gain, says the company, and prevents open joints. The addition of fibres is said to make the adhesive particularly suitable for heavy traffic installations and in areas subjected to stresses from chair castors, in accordance with EN 12529.
‘Easy to apply, Ultrabond ECO 4 LVT is suitable for application onto level, absorbent substrates and can be used alongside underfloor heating systems. It sets to light foot traffic in just 3-5 hours and floors are ready for full use after 48-72 hours.’
Additional certifications include low odour (ISO 16000:28) and Blauer Engel DE-UZ 113.
