THE F Ball recycling scheme reportedly provides locations across the country where flooring contractors can deposit the company’s recyclable buckets and bottles for recycling, free of charge.

The number of F Ball recycling points at wholesaler partners across the UK has reportedly been steadily increased in response to a positive reception from the flooring industry and now stands at 40 and counting.

Says the company: ‘Last year, 13 tonnes of plastic buckets, equating to 23,000 buckets, and 1,560kg of bottles (about 12,000), were collected and recycled through the scheme, with one contractor, Fineweave Carpets in Reading, cutting waste disposal costs by more than £8,000 by using the service.

‘F Ball plastic buckets and the company’s five and 20 litre plastic bottles used for liquids, primers and tackifiers can be recycled via the scheme. Much of the packaging itself is also manufactured from recycled materials.’

Other initiatives
Continues the company: ‘We are further striving to reduce the carbon footprint of the business by implementing measures with the aims of both consuming less energy and increasing the proportion of the energy that comes from renewables, including generating solar powered electricity onsite.

‘This has involved changes at our Staffordshire headquarters, where we have installed solar panels to generate a significant amount of the site’s electricity supply. Buildings incorporate the latest energy efficient technologies, including energy efficient LED lighting, which is connected to proximity sensors or programmed to turn off when not required.’

Adds the company: ‘Factories are also equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including high-efficiency motors and boilers to minimise energy consumption. A gravity-fed mixing plant avoids the need for electric motors to pump material into mixing vessels.’

The company has also installed 17 vehicle charging points for company cars and employee vehicles.
