IN the fast-paced world of retail, where first impressions matter and downtime costs money, flooring is more than a surface – it’s an integral part of the brand experience.
The right system must not only look exceptional but also withstand heavy footfall, accommodate fixtures and displays, and remain safe and serviceable in all conditions.
Says TPS360: ‘At TPS360, we’ve built our reputation as the go-to authority for high-performance retail flooring, delivering tailored solutions from our Tamworth and South Wales hubs to clients nationwide.
‘Our work with several US-based premium lifestyle and athleisure retailers across landmark London and Dublin locations demonstrates our ability to engineer flooring systems that meet the most demanding design, operational, and programme requirements.’
Substrate-driven specifications
Every successful installation begins with a full understanding of the substrate. By engaging early with specifiers and architects at the design stage, TPS360 says it can identify and specify the correct base to ensure long-term performance.
‘For newbuilds, we typically recommend a C35 concrete with an F6 flexural strength for high-traffic retail environments. When working with existing structures, the approach changes: if a substrate is incompatible with the desired system, we adapt.
‘In one flagship project for a leading US athleisure retailer, housed in a listed building in Dublin, the original specification required modification when the existing timber floor was identified. Our experts re-specified to a flexible system from Duracryl, capable of accommodating structural movement without risk of cracking or delamination. This change not only met the aesthetic and performance requirements of the scheme but also supported the client’s environmental objectives through the use of climate-positive materials.’
Engineering solutions for live, complex environments
Retail projects rarely happen in isolation. More often than not, installations take place in busy city centres or live shopping environments, where logistics are as critical as the technical specification. Working alongside other trades, navigating restricted access, -and scheduling works to minimise disruption all require careful planning and tight programme control.
‘Our teams are adept at sequencing works around deliveries, wet trades, and client operations. Whether it’s polishing in the early hours to avoid peak trading or managing phased areas in a multi-level store, we ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality or safety.’
Consistent quality across multiple locations
Across multiple flagship retail projects for premium lifestyle and athleisure brands, TPS360 says it’s delivered consistently high-performance, visually striking floors that meet the demands of busy city centre locations and premium retail environments.
