UltraFloor helps deliver premium flooring finish at DoubleTree by Hilton, Leeds
ULTRAFLOOR has enabled what’s described as a smooth, high-quality flooring upgrade at DoubleTree Leeds, expertly delivered by Tricas Flooring across 11 floors with minimal disruption.
The challenge
DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds required a full refresh of its bedroom and corridor flooring across 11 floors, aiming to elevate the guest experience through improved comfort, style and durability. This highly trafficked hotel demanded a fast-turnaround solution with minimal disruption to guests.
The logistics of working across multiple floors without standard access points created additional pressure on the installation team. Flooring specialists, Tricas Flooring, had to develop a plan to safely transport materials and remove waste without interrupting the hotel’s day-to-day operations.
Preparation and subfloor works
Tricas Flooring began with a full strip-out of the existing flooring, including carpet, vinyl, and underlying screeds. Using specialist tools such as carpet strippers and diamond grinders, it ensured the complete removal of old materials. This step was critical in preparing the substrate for the new installation.
A thorough clean of the exposed subfloor followed, removing dust, debris, and adhesive residues. UltraFloor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer was then ‘expertly applied to optimise adhesion and seal the surface’.
Says the company: ‘Formulated to promote adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sq m at a 3:1 dilution, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer is a must-have product for all flooring installation projects.
‘UltraFloor Level IT Two multi-purpose floor leveller was used to create what’s described as perfectly smooth and level finish. This was essential to support the installation of high-end carpet and to ensure long-term performance and appearance.’

Installation process
Once the subfloor was levelled and primed, Tricas Flooring carried out a final clean to prepare for installation. The team then laid a CFS 650 underlay, reportedly enhancing comfort and acoustic performance, a must-have for a busy hotel.
The custom-designed Brintons Carpet was fitted using UltraFloor Stick IT 542 and Stick IT 500 adhesives.
‘UltraFloor Stick IT 542 provides a permanent tacky film when applied to stable and smooth subfloors, the ideal adhesive for fixing carpet tiles and looselay PVC floors or floorcoverings with PVC backings.
‘UltraFloor Stick IT 500 is a multi-purpose adhesive with high initial grab, which boasts an excellent final, and long-term bond strength for carpets and vinyls.
‘Stick IT 542 and Stick IT 500 were chosen for their superior bond strength and versatility, ensuring the carpet would remain securely in place despite high levels of footfall. To complete the installation, CFS accessories, such as door-trims and transition bars were fitted. These provided a sleek professional finish and also facilitated a smooth transition between different types of flooring.’
The result
Owing to the expertise of Tricas Flooring and the solutions provided by UltraFloor, the DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds now boasts a refreshed, luxurious floor finish across 11 floors, says the company. ‘The new carpet enhances the aesthetic and functional appeal of the space, while meeting the client’s expectations for durability and comfort.
Despite some challenges, the project was completed in just two weeks, was delivered on time and to the highest standards.’
