Roberts and FENTO support the flooring industry’s next generation

ROBERTS and FENTO are supporting the next generation of flooring installers at colleges and academies across the UK.

Apprentices and trainees at FITA, NICF, Derwentside College, Gower College, and Optimum Skills, are now undertaking their training using Roberts tools and FENTO knee protection as the partners look to play a pivotal role in encouraging and supporting the next generation of flooring installers.

The ongoing relationships they have with some of the industry’s most recognised training facilitators reportedly ensures trainees ‘can benefit from the quality, accuracy and reliability of Roberts tools and the ergonomic, supportive protection of FENTO as they learn how to install floors to the highest professional standards’.

Roberts category manager Tom Connelly explains: ‘The industry faces a skills shortage, so the work of training providers like the NICF and Optimum Skills is vital in ensuring that flooring has a future of qualified and skilled installers.

‘Roberts has been creating tools for the industry for more than eight decades and is renowned for the quality of its tools. It only seems right we give something back and let the next generation learn with some of the world’s best flooring tools in hand. Our partnership with FENTO means their knees and backs are well protected from the very first day too, so they can build a lasting career.’

Founded in 1938, Roberts, described as a quality brand of QEP, is a pioneer in modern carpet and hard flooring installation tools. It has reportedly invented, designed and improved many common flooring tools in use today, and ‘continues to introduce innovative products that address the challenges of today’s professionals’.

Roberts partners with FENTO in the UK to distribute the company’s range of ergonomically designed knee protection for today’s craftspeople.

FENTO was established in 2000 by sailmaker René van Rijn and physiotherapist Geert Kaal. Says the company: ‘It was a result of René’s inability to find a knee protector that prevented his knee and back problems. Its range is trusted by more than 1m tradespeople across the globe.

‘Supporting training facilities with tools and protection allows the companies to not only support the next generation but also raise standards and ensure a thriving and successful future for flooring installation.’
