Entries open for 2020 awards
NO sooner has the dust settled on this year’s CFJ/CFA Awards than we begin our search for next year’s entrants, finalists and winners.
This year saw the reinvention of our traditional awards with categories that celebrated partnerships and installations rather than singular achievements, although we retained categories such as manufacturer, distributor and apprentice of the year.
The new awards proved a resounding success, owing to several factors. First, successful installations are more exciting owing to being partnerships; second, a celebrity speaker – Eddie the Eagle in this case – was involved for the first time; and third, the winners were chosen by an independent judging panel consisting of a facilities consultant (Fiona Bowman); an architect (Simon Jackson); a flooring contractor (John Butler); and an independent flooring consultant (Richard Renouf).
The overall installation of the year went to Medifloor and Forbo Flooring Systems for their work at Deliveroo offices. The judges said: ‘This is an inspired scheme which has used several different products and has come up with an absolutely stunning result for Medifloor, Forbo and Uzin on behalf of clients Deliveroo. The clever application on vertical and horizontal surfaces brings an imaginative twist to what is clearly an excellently executed installation.’
You can read all about this year’s winners in a special supplement which is published with your August edition. Now it’s onto next year, and we urge all contractors and manufacturers to enter their installations completed in 2019.
You’ll need to write a description of your entry. Supplementary information may also be submitted in the form of graphs or tables etc, but this should be limited. Write a 200-word summary of your entry, including all parties involved, duration and nature of partnership.
Be prepared, as per the entry form, to answer the following essential questions:
Full names of all companies involved
Date and timescale of installation
Number of floorlayers involved
Challenges encountered and how they were overcome
Complete the entry form and include it with your entry submission. Provide three to four hi-res photographs to illustrate the entry (digital JPEG files) together with company logos emailed to email@example.com or posted with the entry on a USB memory stick. These may be published in CFJ, CFJ Digital and shown at the CFJ/CFA Awards.
Only partnerships that were completed in 2019 may enter the 2020 awards.
Where categories have particularly high numbers of applications, this may lead to them being divided in the most reasonable manner possible, such as splitting Education into primary and further education, for example.
