25 years on, Shaw Contract continues to close the loop

Shaw Contract is a commercial flooring manufacturer led by design optimists who see sustainability and design as essential. The company focuses on people and planet, with four core ambitions: material health, carbon impact, circular economy, and social fairness.

‘Ninety percent of what we design and manufacture is cradle-to-cradle certified,’ says Business Development Director Andrew Jackson. ‘We’re a local Scottish manufacturer serving the EMEA region from our carbon-neutral factory.’

Ten years ago, Shaw established a permanent base at the heart of Clerkenwell to better engage with the commercial interior and architectural community.

‘Being at CDW makes us part of the same community. We collaborate on specs, takeback schemes, and how to reach Net Zero together,’ says Andrew.

Covid disrupted that sense of connection, he notes, but CDW remains a vital moment to rebuild and strengthen relationships. ‘Showrooms at CDW also welcome visitors from outside London, the key specification hub for the region.’

This year, Shaw showcased EcoWorxTM Resilient, a new PVC-free, fully closed-loop recyclable product designed for circularity. Shaw takes it back free-of-charge at end-of-life and recycles it into EcoWorx® carpet tile backing.

‘We’ve seen rising demand for resilient products, but the design industry often rejects PVC,’ says Andrew. ‘Our PVC-free alternative to LVT keeps the performance and aesthetics, while offering big wins in material health and recyclability. Few resilient products offer what EcoWorx does.’

Next year, the focus for Shaw Contract is clear: ‘Product, product, product,’ says Andrew. Shaw wants to meet demand for well-designed, sustainable flooring across a range of budgets. ‘The market’s tough, but we’re working with designers and installers to deliver value in both price and service.’

After 15 years at Shaw – and three decades in commercial interiors across EMEA – Andrew is focused on growing the business. ‘I’m proud of what we’ve built as a team over the past 10 years, and excited for what’s ahead.’
Shaw Contract’s development and service model sets it apart from its competitors. ‘We’re not yet the market leader, but we aim to add value,’ says Andrew Jackson. ‘One example is our second-use warranty for carpet tiles using adhesive-free installation. We’re still the only company offering that.’
Ultimately, it comes down to people. ‘You can’t deliver great products or service without great people. We work to keep our team authentic, compassionate, and focused on customer needs.’
