INTRAsystems unveils next-generation recycled entrance matting

COMMERCIAL entrance matting specialist, INTRAsystems, has unveiled what it describes as a new 100% recycled modular tile entrance matting system, developed particularly for multi-directional, high-traffic environments.

Says INTRAsystems: ‘INTRAlink2 is a game-changing recycled PVC entrance matting product that provides 95% fibre coverage on each of the modular tiles, to trap excess moisture and scrape away dirt, even in the heaviest trafficked commercial entrances.

‘Excellent scraping and absorbency capabilities are just two of the many benefits of the brand’s newly launched INTRAlink2 range. The system delivers on sustainability, a subject increasingly important to developers and architects in the UK as the construction sector is challenged to invest in greener solutions to help fight climate change. To this end, INTRAlink2 is manufactured in the UK using 100% recycled PVC, ticking the box for both sustainability and a low carbon footprint.’

But INTRAlink2’s environmental credentials don’t end there, says the company. ‘The closed construction, low-profile matting system is compatible with the firm’s three Econyl fibre inserts. In addition, one of these fibres can be specified with PureBase, a 100% PVC-free backing that’s void of environmentally harmful plasticisers and softeners.’

‘In the UK especially, we’re seeing a much greater emphasis on sustainable design’, says INTRAsystems director, James Farrant. ‘With government laying out its roadmap for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, developers, architects, and commercial office owners are increasingly being challenged to find new ways of lowering their carbon footprint.

‘Key to making this vision a reality is the need to invest in greener products alongside more environmentally sustainable building practices so that’s been front of mind for us in developing INTRAlink2 ,’ continues Farrant. ‘It’s great to be able to offer our clients a commercial entrance matting solution that can actively help them meet their own sustainability targets by covering every single environmental requirement.’

Continues the company: ‘Sustainability wasn’t the only driving force behind the technical specifications of INTRAsystems’ latest product innovation. Having specified and supplied entrance matting across the globe, including international high street retailers and some of the world’s largest public buildings, the brand is all too familiar with the challenges of managing footfall in extreme traffic environments. Keen to introduce a cost-effective product that could address all the key pain points, the brand ultimately arrived at INTRAlink2 , a next-generation enhancement of its popular INTRAlink system.

‘With INTRAlink2 we’ve taken everything we know about high-traffic environments from working at some of the UK’s busiest retail and commercial hubs and distilled it into a single product that meets these unique challenges not just for the client, but also for mat installers and flooring contractors’, says Farrant. ‘We know, for example, that moisture transference is a particularly big issue when you have a constant stream of traffic entering an exposed building entrance on a typically wet British day. The product’s got to be able to handle this but without costing the earth, financially and environmentally!’

According to Farrant, INTRAlink2 achieves this in three unique ways: ‘One, each 250mm individual tile that makes up the low-profile modular system comprises 95% fabric coverage for maximum moisture absorption, whichever direction the pedestrian flow takes. Two, the robust, interlocking tiles have been specifically designed in collaboration with the industry to be both cost-effective and quick to install. Three, INTRAlink2 is manufactured from recycled PVC and can be specified with a PVC-free backing, PureBase, for maximum sustainability.

‘In busy commercial areas where high traffic is either in constant flow or intensifies at key periods (such as on football match days, Boxing Day sales, or peak travel times) having an appropriately specified mat that doesn’t cost a fortune will greatly improve the client’s ability to prevent excess moisture being tracked in,’ continues Farrant.

‘When it comes to our flagship Ultimate Fibre, we like to say moisture has met its mat(ch). It’s incredibly efficient at quickly absorbing moisture and, when combined with our new INTRAlink2 matting system, delivers market-leading performance.’
