Abacus Flooring Solutions plays an active role in promoting the numerous systems available by suppliers

Industrial resin flooring has been around since the very early ‘60s designed to protect concrete from corrosion. Move forward 60 years and the systems available are reportedly beyond recognition. Expectations are greater, function is only one part and aesthetics play a much larger part of the decision-making process.

Resin flooring is basically a chemical reaction formed by mixing base resins and the activator or hardener. From here it’s subject to the system, aggregates added for a screed or a simple two-component resin coating.

Abacus Flooring Solutions Limited says it plays an active role in promoting the numerous systems available by several suppliers certified by FeRFA. It’s a full contractor member of The Resin Flooring Association (FeRFA) and Nick Megson sits on the board of directors.

FeRFA is the industry governing body, setting the standards, and offering a training schedule for all members. As a business Abacus promotes FeRFA and the training. ‘We have one of our new starters already signed up for the next apprenticeship training programme. Once trained, the candidate is fully certified and can progress with additional training.’

Abacus says the following regarding its role in the industry:
Training is at the forefront of our future, with all sites-based staff using the FeRFA programme.

We’ll continue to grow our onsite staff from four as when we can employ and train them. Research and development have always been an interest of our company, in fact we now have Abaplas Recycling Limited who promote and sell the 100% recycled white plastic for use in all resin flooring systems available.

Abaplas Recycling has researched and developed a 100% recycled white plastic filler that can be used to make a scratch coat, self-smoothing screed. It can also be used to bulk out a latex or other repair screed. Designing a world first flooring system has been incredibly exciting and winning three awards and being shortlisted for another is testament to this exciting discovery.

One of our recent projects involved recycling the broken seats at Wembley Stadium for the FA.
Wembley now promotes that it was the first stadium in the world to have seamless flooring made using recycled plastics.

We’ve used our world-first screed in facilities such as JCB and numerous UK manufacturing facilities and continue to help other companies become more environmentally friendly by having this product installed. Along with our flooring systems we continue to invest heavily in our plant. Husqvarna, HTC and Scanmaskin are a few of our machinery supplies. Investing in the latest technology supports our continued investment in our staff and our customers.

Accreditation is important and as members of FeRFA, CHAS, Safe Contractor and Constructionline we now start the road to accreditation of ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.

Abacus Flooring Solutions offers an amazing service of a free survey, options, specifications, and quotations are provided all free of charge. We operate throughout the UK in all industries.
