SAID to be a revolutionary development in vinyl adhesives, F Ball & Co’s Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS combines temperature tolerant and pressure sensitive characteristics, making it suitable for installing bespoke vinyl designs in areas subject to high temperatures and extreme temperature fluctuations.

Says F Ball: ‘The water-based vinyl adhesive offers high initial grab, meaning contractors can be confident that tiles or planks will not move about when working, ideal where unique or intricate designs form part of the installation, such as embossed logos or bespoke patterns that require precise alignment. It also has a long open time, making it easy to work with and reducing the risk of late floorcovering placement, furthermore, allowing floorcoverings to be lifted and repositioned in the early stages of drying.’

When cured, Styccobond F49 reportedly provides the ultra-high bond strength required to hold floorcoverings firmly in place when exposed to temperature fluctuations (as low as -20deg C and up to +60deg C), for example in areas where floor-to-ceiling windows cause solar gain. F Ball says such temperature fluctuations can otherwise cause vinyl floorcoverings to expand and contract significantly, leading to unsightly tenting and gapping at the edges of vinyl planks and tiles over time.

‘The bond formed by the adhesive is also water resistant, making it suitable for installing bespoke floorcoverings in areas that will be exposed to damp and humidity. High resistance to plasticisers, as well instant grab, means that it can also be used to install PVC vertical flooring accessories, such as skirting, capping and coving. Unlike contact adhesives, it allows for repositioning of vertical flooring accessories if placement is incorrect and only needs to be applied to one surface.’
