F BALL & Co’s advanced Styccobond F58 PLUS is described by the company as a fast-drying, fibre-reinforced, pressure-sensitive adhesive that is suitable for the installation of vinyl sheet and tile floorcoverings.

Developed as a ‘transitional’ adhesive, the product transitions from a wet-lay adhesive when initially applied to a subfloor to become fully pressure-sensitive, allowing contractors to utilise the benefits that most suit their requirements.

Says F Ball: ‘The formulation of Styccobond F58 PLUS enables floorcoverings to be secured from just five minutes following application of the adhesive, allowing for a much speedier installation time. Reinforcing fibres provide resistance to lateral movement, helping install LVTs and planks by holding them firmly in place and reducing the potential for them to slide around.

‘As well as helping reduce movement during installation, the adhesive’s high bond strength and strong initial tack prevents excess adhesive oozing between joints, facilitating easier application.

Offering an extended open time of around three hours when used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive (depending on ambient conditions), Styccobond F58 PLUS allows large areas of adhesive to be applied in one application without risking late placement of the floorcovering.

‘The adhesive can be applied to Stopgap levelling compounds, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete and sand/cement screed, plywood, flooring grade chipboard, and hardboard. It can also be applied directly to epoxy resin Stopgap waterproof surface membranes and other non-absorbent subfloors when used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive and where the surface finish is smooth enough to permit the installation of PVC floorcoverings.

‘Styccobond F58 PLUS is fully accredited for marine use, carrying an Emicode EC1 Plus classification – the highest certification for indoor air quality – and is protected against bio-degradation. It’s also suitable for use over underfloor heating (UFH) systems. The adhesive is available in 15L and 5L units, offering over 20% more coverage than similarly packaged products sold by equivalent weight.’.
