CFA Annual General Meeting – Keynote Speaker announced

THE CFA Annual General Meeting is taking place on Tuesday 15 August 2023, at the FITA Training Centre in Loughborough, commencing at 2.00pm.

We are delighted to announce that our Keynote Speaker opening the event is Tim Balcon, CEO of CITB.

Tim became Chief Executive of CITB in September 2021. Tim has led professional and membership bodies, the most notable being as Chief Executive at the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, where he transformed its vision and performance, leading to year-on-year growth.

Tim’s knowledge of education and skills was reflected in his previous appointment to the board of Ofqual at a time of major education reform, and prior to this he was also a member of the UK Vocational Qualifications Reform Board.

Tim will be providing CFA members with a general update on CITB with emphasis on flooring and our sector across the UK; an overview of the levy system and how CITB is moving to a sector model as opposed to levy payers only model; how CITB aims to achieve its plans for reform; and a wider perspective on training and the challenges ahead.

Recent CFA engagement with CITB has included crucial work to resolve a very difficult ongoing situation in Scotland and both the L2 Floorlayer Standard and NOS reviews. In Scotland delivery of floor laying apprenticeships has been in danger and CITB’s support and Tim’s input have been vital.
Members are welcome to attend, and this is an ideal opportunity to have a look at the FITA training facility if you have never seen it before.

The official CFA AGM papers were issued to members at the end of June, but if you are yet to confirm your attendance please contact the CFA office on 0115 941 1126 or info@cfa.org.uk where the admin team can help you with any relevant paperwork.
