F Ball and Co are using this year’s Flooring Show to debut Stopgap 1500 AquaPro; the next-generation of water-mix smoothing underlayments. Visitors to the F Ball stand will be able to watch live demonstrations featuring Stopgap 1500 AquaPro, alongside other fast-track floor preparation products, Stopgap Micro Rapid and Styccobond F58 PLUS.
Demonstrations will be delivered by F Ball’s
head of training, plus experts from the company’s technical service department on the stand’s live demonstration area, which returns to Harrogate following a positive reception from flooring professionals after its successful debut at last year’s show.
Stopgap 1500 AquaPro
Stopgap 1500 AquaPro uses the latest technology to provide a high-performance water-mix smoothing underlayment that can be applied over old adhesive residues, including bitumen, carpet tile tackifiers, and ceramic tile adhesives, eliminating the need for mechanical preparation. In such applications, there is no need to prime beforehand, saving further time and expense. Fast-setting and fast-drying, it is walk-on hard in as little as 60 minutes after application and ready to receive floorcoverings from just four hours.
The smoothing underlayment is suitable for use over a wide range of subfloor types, including sand/cement screed, concrete, granolithic, terrazzo, asphalt, steel, old vinyl asbestos tiles, epoxy and polyurethane resins, ceramic and quarry tiles, as well as Stopgap waterproof surface membranes.
Stopgap 1500 AquaPro is also moisture resistant, meaning that it can be applied to damp subfloors prior to the application of a waterproof surface membrane. This is ideal where a rough or uneven screed would result in a liquid waterproof surface membrane pooling in undulations on the surface, often requiring a greater quantity of the product to achieve full coverage.
Stopgap Micro Rapid
Stopgap Micro Rapid is an ultra-smooth, flexible, rapid-drying floor finishing compound for creating a flawlessly smooth subfloor finish.
Stopgap Micro Rapid can be applied to a seamless feathered edge to fill indentations formed by screws used to secure plywood and hardboard sheets as well as the gaps at joints between the panels. It can also be used to repair minor surface defects in a wide range of other absorbent surfaces, including sand/cement and calcium sulphate screeds. It is ideal for use where an ultra-smooth surface is required to prevent imperfections affecting the finished appearance of new floorcoverings.
The latest addition to F Ball’s range of floor finishing and repair compounds utilises the same advanced cement technology as the company’s fast-track levelling compounds. It is walk-on hard and ready to receive new floorcoverings from just 20 minutes after application, and priming is not required prior to use, making it perfect for use when working to tight time constraints and deadlines.
Styccobond F58 PLUS
Styccobond F58 PLUS is a fast-drying, fibre-reinforced, pressure sensitive adhesive that is ideal for the installation of LVT floorcoverings. Its fast-drying formulation enables LVT tiles and planks to be secured from just five minutes following application of the adhesive, allowing for a much speedier installation time.
Developed as a ‘transitional’ adhesive, Styccobond F58 PLUS transitions from a wet-lay adhesive when initially applied to a subfloor, through a semi-wet stage to become fully pressure sensitive. The reinforcing fibres in the formulation provide resistance to lateral movement, holding tiles firmly in place and reducing the potential for them to slide around.
As well as helping to reduce movement during installation, the adhesive’s high bond strength and strong initial tack prevents excess adhesive oozing between joints, facilitating easier application.
Offering an extended open time of around three hours, when used as a pressure-sensitive adhesive (depending on ambient conditions), Styccobond F58 PLUS allows large areas of adhesive to be applied in one application without risking late placement of the floorcovering.
When used as a wet-lay adhesive it is also suitable for the installation of rubber sheet and tile floorcoverings up to 2.5mm thick.
Fully accredited for marine use, Styccobond F58 PLUS carries Emicode EC1 Plus classification – the highest certification for indoor air quality – and is protected against bio-degradation.
Drinks reception
All delegates at the show are also invited to a drinks reception at the F Ball stand on the Monday of the show, to celebrate the launch of Stopgap 1500 AquaPro.

Representatives from the F Ball marketing, sales, and liaison teams will be on hand throughout the exhibition to answer any questions that visitors may have about F Ball’s products and technical support including free training courses delivered at F Ball’s Centre of Excellence in Staffordshire.
Flooring contractors will be able to register for the free training courses at the F Ball stand.
