Say Goodbye to Plywood with LION Floor

Just as easy to install, LION Floor is an alternative to BS 8203 compliant plywood that’s high-quality, cost-effective and reliable.

For installers used to using plywood for resilient flooring installations but finding variable quality and intermittent availability problematic, LION Floor is the alternative. A high-grade engineered wood fibreboard that’s specifically made for flooring, it’s just as easy to install as plywood.

LION Floor is pre-conditioned so doesn’t need wetting before installation and it can be cut cleanly and quickly with a knife or saw. Fixed with screws or ring shank nails and suitable for screeds and feather compounds, there’s no longer a reason to choose BS 8203 compliant plywood. LION Floor™ is one of a very small number of fabricated underlays which can be used for LVT and other resilient floor coverings that meets British Standards and CFA guidance.

Peter Jones, Finnish Fibreboard says: “LION Floor is for installers looking to provide high-quality, uncompromised and low risk flooring installations. More cost-effective and sustainable than BS compliant plywood and more reliable and sustainable than cheaper plywood that might not meet BS 8203 requirements, LION Floor is just as easy to install, so there are very few reasons not to choose it.”

The board is supplied in standard sheet sizes and comes in a 4.8mm thickness – the recommended thickness to replace a 6mm plywood according to BS8203 & CFA. Thanks to rapid growth in availability throughout 2022, flooring contractors and installers can now enjoy a reliable supply of LION Floor™ across the country, ensuring that whatever the location or scale of project, there’s a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to flooring grade plywood close by.

“Other than habit, the arguments for choosing BS 8203 compliant plywood over LION Floor are extremely limited,” continues Peter Jones. “The board is made in Finland from PEFC certified wood by-products and has the reliability and durability that comes from a manufacturing technique refined over several decades. Designed for flooring and without any changes to installation methods, once you’ve tried LION Floor we’re confident you’ll be saying goodbye to plywood.”
