Public liability insurance gives you cover for accidental damage and other problems that might arise that are not your fault. It doesn’t cover bad workmanship or any other form of incompetence, so your insurers would not help if the issue was about the quality of the work. Even if there was a valid claim covered by the policy the claim would be against you and not the insurers. It would be your choice whether to settle the claim or to refer it on, and it would be for you to contact them and not the customer. Therefore you don’t have to provide this information.
