Why does using self-smoothing screed products require less manual correction to a floor level?

Self-smoothing products need less manual correction owing to its flowing liquid consistency. When pump applied, the product will fill all available space and find its own level. This type of screed is ideal for levelling out uneven areas as floors should not vary more than 10mm to achieve a SR3 specification (utility standard), 5mm for a SR2 specification (commercial and industrial), and 3mm for SR1 specification (special use) over a 2m span.

Environments such as warehouses, hospitals, TV studios and laboratories require exceptionally flat and level floors to accommodate extremely sensitive equipment being transported. With more and more high-tech equipment and automation being used to carry fragile objects across large or small areas, it’s important that there’s minimal vibration and a smooth surface. Using pre-bagged flowing screeds or smoothing compounds will aid the quality of the surface and reduce programme time as manual corrections will be to a minimum.
