CPI, the independent organisation set up to administer the Code for Construction Product Information or CCPI, has announced Amanda Long as its new ceo.

The CPI board has agreed to appoint Amanda, who was instrumental in starting up the Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI), as Steve Marr’s successor as his time as Interim ceo comes to an end.

Says CPI: ‘Steve has been leading the scheme since the beginning of the year and successfully ramped up engagement with manufacturers and other parts of the supply chain, while at the same time overseeing the first wave of intake for assessment and verification against the code.

‘Steve will stay supporting CPI in the role of interim chief operating officer. Amanda Long brings substantial knowledge and understanding of the built environment sector and has valuable experience setting up and running national schemes to raise standards in the construction sector.’

Amanda has previously worked as an independent consultant for the Office for Product Safety and Standards and has engaged regularly with construction product manufacturers as well as other parts of the construction value chain throughout her career.

She brings a strong knowledge of the Economic, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, as well as an in-depth understanding of the current and expected regulatory conditions facing the industry.
Commenting on Amanda’s appointment, CPI chair David Topliffe, said: ‘It’s wonderful to welcome Amanda back to CPI as our new ceo. She has substantial knowledge of the sector and will bring real dynamism and flair to the role. With CCPI being recommended in the recent Independent Review of the Construction Products Testing Regime (Morrell/Day), I’m confident Amanda has what it takes to ensure we seize the opportunity of this moment to enhance building safety by getting more manufacturers through the onboarding and verification process.
