Looselay flooring offers additional flexibility to design contemporary interiors in spaces where a glue-down product would be less appropriate, such as where access to underfloor services is required or where the existing floor surface needs to be protected. To ensure stability, a loose lay floor requires tackifier adhesive in vulnerable areas such as doorways or larger commercial installations. While the popularity of flexible flooring formats such as loose lay has increased in recent years, I am confident there will continue to be demand for glue-down designs and so adhesive will remain a key product in the flooring industry. Product innovation will be key to meeting evolving customer needs and opening new diversified markets. In fact, a recent report predicts global growth opportunities for flooring materials, particularly for products that are easy to install and demonstrate sustainability credentials.
