TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring: Championing mental health in the industry

IN an industry where discussions about mental health often remain muted, TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring says it has emerged as a beacon of change with its latest endeavour: ‘Breaking the Silence, Building Resilience.’

Says the company: ‘With an unwavering commitment to promoting mental health awareness, TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring presents a compelling video initiative aimed at igniting conversations about men’s mental well-being, especially within the predominantly male-dominated flooring industry.

‘This initiative recognises the unique challenges faced by individuals in such fields. Through poignant portrayals of characters John (Micky McGregor) and Mark (Richard Taylor), TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring strives to dismantle the stigma surrounding men’s mental health.’

The company continues: ‘The narrative delicately navigates the complexities of emotional struggles, urging viewers to acknowledge the importance of expressing inner turmoil and providing support to those in need when signs of distress surface.

‘More than just a video project, the initiative symbolises TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring’s steadfast dedication to making a tangible difference in people’s lives. By harnessing the power of storytelling and evocative visuals, we aim to spark discussions that transcend barriers, fostering a culture of empathy, understanding and support for mental wellness.’

The company adds: ‘Filmed in February of this year over two intensive days, the production process stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring’s marketing team and Newcastle-based agency, The Social Co. Through meticulous planning and combined creativity, the team ensured that every frame of the video resonates with authenticity and emotional depth.’

A message from TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring’s managing director, Justin Scarborough, reflects that ‘the creation of this video represents more than just a project for us; it embodies our collective commitment to fostering a workplace culture where mental health is prioritised and supported. We believe that by sharing stories and encouraging open dialogue, we can pave the way for a more compassionate and resilient community.’

The company says: ‘At TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring, we believe in going beyond providing reliable flooring solutions – we are committed to supporting the industry in every possible way.

‘To further this initiative, we’ve made mental health support available to all employees throughout the business with the recruiting and training of 14 mental health first aiders who are available to help fellow employees situated around the business and its 14 nationwide trade counter locations.

‘It’s time to dismantle the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and cultivate a culture of openness and support.

‘TradeChoice Carpet & Flooring understands that discussing one’s emotions can be daunting. That’s why we’re championing open conversations. True strength lies in vulnerability and by encouraging individuals to speak up, the business aims to create a space where no one feels alone in their struggles.’
