modulyss is a pioneer adopter of ECONYL yarn

REPORTEDLY well-known for great looking, off-beat carpet tiles that deliver excellent value and performance, fewer know that modulyss was also a pioneer adopter of ECONYL yarn and produces in excess of 500,000sq m of ECONYL carpet tiles every year, says the company.

‘For modulyss the long-running use of ECONYL yarn saw it achieve the milestone of its first Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold carpet tile in Grind, which was also the first to feature the company’s ecoBack, a PVC and bitumen-free backing made with 75% recycled content. In early 2021, modulyss now has 28 Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold carpet tiles.’

It adds that with a further 99 products given Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver status and made with 100% ECONYL yarn, modulyss is quickly gaining a reputation for carpet tiles that are a great option for designers working on projects with clear environmental commitments.
‘Along with its Limit your Footprint programme, featuring the C02RE carbon offset initiative that supports global climate projects, which can be used to make carpet tiles carbon neutral, Cradle to Cradle Certified options demonstrate the company’s commitment to creating more sustainable products,’ says modulyss.

It continues: ‘In fact, it was the development of its in-house ecoBack that saw modulyss being able to reach one of the gold standards in environmental certification. The 75% recycled, PVC and bitumen-free backing is also Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold, helping many of the company’s ECONYL equipped carpet tiles to make the grade as a sustainable option for today’s workplace interiors.’

Katja De Laet, marketing manager, modulyss said: ‘For many years, since we first developed a range with yarn featuring recycled content well over a decade ago, we’ve been focused on not only making our products stand-out for individual and unique designs, but also as an option for interiors looking for carpet tiles that minimise impact.

‘With 127 products now Cradle to Cradle Certified, the widespread use of ECONYL, ecoBack, our well-established CO2RE initiative, membership of the Healthy Seas programme and partnership in the CARE carpet recovery scheme, we now rank as a carpet tile manufacturer with serious answers to today’s sustainability challenges. We’re finding more and more designers coming to us not simply because of our style or performance, but our sustainable actions too.’
