Instarmac invests over £400,000 in solar energy at its manufacturing facility

AS part of its ongoing environmental commitments, Instarmac Group has recently invested more than £400,000 to install state-of-the-art solar panels at its manufacturing facility in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Renewable energy specialists, Perfect Sense Energy installed 1,656 solar panels across a 3,771sq m area at Instarmac’s premises – the largest installation tackled by the company so far. The 768KW solar panels will reportedly generate 680,000KW of clean green energy for Instarmac to use and are projected to save at least 36,000KW of power per month.

Ian Marr, head of sales at Perfect Sense Energy, said: ‘Perfect Sense is very proud of this installation. From the very first meeting, the communication between the two companies was exceptional.

Instarmac, and Andrew Nightingale from PSE worked together to ensure our presence onsite was as easy as could be. With Instarmac’s help, we were able to operate efficiently and safely from day one. We look forward to completing more work for Instarmac in the near future.’

Darren Gough, quality, and operations manager at Instarmac, said: ‘This is an exciting phase of Instarmac’s environmental plans. We’re committed to being as green as possible and are leading the way for other manufacturers to follow. We’re delighted with our progress so far but the hard work doesn’t stop there. Following this successful installation we’re now looking to fit solar panels across more of the Instarmac Holdings infrastructure.’

Over the lifespan of the new system, Instarmac is projected to produce more than 15m KW of green power which will reportedly save more than 4,000 tonnes of CO2 and £4m in energy costs. The new installation is said to be under constant monitoring from the Instarmac operations team. Based on the daily yield performance, the solar panel system has generated a consistent 100% (self-use) amount of power, reducing consumption from the grid by up to 35%.
