Open day for new floor training centre

PADDY McNicholas, founder of MN Floor Training, is hosting an open day for charity. Paddy opened his own floor training centre last summer after noticing there was huge demand for them. Following on from his success, he decided to go one step further and create an open day for the flooring industry to come along, network, raise money for charity as well as give fitters an idea of the training he provides.

The open day will take place Friday 15 July 2022 between 10am-4pm at MN Floor Training in Wolverhampton. Tickets are now on sale and are £10 each with proceeds going to mental health charities and organisations who are reaching out to the people of Ukraine. The event will take place outside the training centre where there’ll be a hog-roast and drinks, allowing professionals to network.

Manufacturers exhibiting at the event are F Ball and Co, Stairrods, Penthouse Carpets, Hanson Plywood, Brampton Chase, Murexin, GreenFlor, Unifloor/Jumpax, Ultrafloor, Orion Power Tools, and the NICF. UK Flooring TV will also be there along with CFJ which will record highlights and collect insights of the day.

Alongside the exhibitors, there’ll be ongoing demos from flooring professionals such as Dan Jones, the current carpet fitter of the year; Steve Ramsden, flooring trainer; and Paddy McNicholas himself. The demonstrations that will take place include LVT installations, carpet fitting, and subfloor preparations.

When asked what inspired him to organise an open day, Paddy responded: ‘Last year was a whirlwind for me with respect to the number of flooring professionals I met. When I was at Harrogate Flooring Show, it was great to see industry manufactures communicate with suppliers and floor fitters, which is currently the only annual event for the flooring industry. This inspired me to create another opportunity for the flooring industry to come together in the summertime where they can network, raise money for charity and highlight the importance of training that is needed for floorlayers.’

When asked why training was important for the flooring industry, he replied: ‘From my personal experience, I was never happy with my fitting so I went and received the training I needed to make me a better fitter. It allowed me to work faster and gain the confidence in the work and installations I carried out. I want to be able to give the flooring industry something back. I love what I do, and I want to improve the sector week-by-week. I want everyone to be better than me, not me being better than everyone else.’

The event will take place at the following address:
MN Floor Training,
Unit 11 Walton Works, Macrome Road, Claregate, Wolverhampton WV6 9H
