LATE last year saw Stauf Adhesives join with Metcon Gyms & JP Training to put on the first Metcon Strongman Contest.
Competing over five different exercises a mix of experienced-to-novice entrants put on what was described as a great show for a large supportive crowd. The highlight of the day for most was the sled push-and-pull which was a head-to-head event involving sleds weighing 200kg each.
Cheered on by the crowd the strongmen dug deep and reportedly put on a great spectacle.
The overall winner was Murphy Holt, but all entrants left with a smile and willingness to make to contest an annual event.
Discussions have already taken place on next year’s event and how all involved can make it bigger and better with the prospect of a truck pull becoming increasingly likely.
Stauf says it’s worked closely with the local gym for several years providing sports adhesives for the installation of gym flooring and artificial grass. Several Stauf employees also attend the gym on a regular basis.
Stauf adds that it works closely with gyms and sports flooring installation across the world and more information on the full product range and installations can be found at www.stauf.co.uk.
Stauf Adhesive UK managing director said: ‘It was great to be involved in a local event and see so many smiling faces after the previous months. As you can see from our range of products we continue to push for healthier more sustainable products while still keeping the strong shear strength required not to dissimilar to the requirements of a strongman.’
