IVC Commercial launches Immersion products using carbon-negative Thrive matter

IVC Commercial has introduced a new product collection, Immersion, which it says delivers ‘performance, beauty and unrivalled sustainability’ by using Thrive matter, a carbon-negative fibre from Universal Fibers.

Says the company: ‘Enriching spatial experiences with dynamic textures, Immersion is the new carpet tile collection from IVC Commercial. Transposing the impact of digitisation on human existence into three-dimensional textures, IVC Commercial’s Immersion carpet tile collection creates a more involving experience in work and living spaces. The carpet tile collection uses the world’s first carbon negative carpet yarn, Thrive matter. Available in Alternate, Liberate and Animate; Immersion’s palette of smart tones enriches sculptural textures for a carpet tile that adds intrigue and sophistication.’

‘The Immersion collection underscores our long-standing commitment to smart sustainability,’ says Vanessa Van Overmeeren, general manager for commercial carpet tile at IVC Commercial. ‘By so dramatically reducing end-to-end carbon, we’re responding to what our customers want and to what the planet needs.

‘Universal Fibers brought us an innovative solution that can meet the performance demands of commercial projects while helping our customers on their path to net-zero. We’re excited to be the first company to bring this revolutionary fiber to market.’

Phil Harmon, president of Universal Fibers says, ‘We’re incredibly pleased to unveil this first partnership with IVC Commercial. Our vision for Thrive matter has always been to reduce the overall carbon footprint for design and construction. With these pioneering products, IVC Commercial shows carbon-negative product is the future, and that the future will be both beautiful and sustainable.’

Thrive matter is a nylon 6 fibre whose end-to-end production actually removes carbon from the earth’s atmosphere, says the company. It continues: ‘The process begins with 100% post-industrial recycled resin which results in a total of 90% recycled content. Then, over 99.9% of the waste in production is captured and fed back into the manufacturing process. What results is the world’s lowest product to CO2 footprint in the industry at 1.45kg CO2 eq (as compared to 9.6kg CO2 eq for virgin nylon 6 material). This already low number is brought below zero by purchasing credits through Carbonfund.org to support their forest conservation and reforestation projects around the world.’

Global demand is surging for design and construction products that can help builders achieve sustainability goals and support corporate commitments to environmental sustainability. The company continues: ‘Both IVC Commercial and Universal Fibers are meeting that demand through the Immersion collection launch, but also through both companies’ extensive portfolios of waste-, water- and carbon-reducing products and operational initiatives.’

‘This product collection meets the moment,’ says Anna Plumb, Universal Fibers’ VP of sales and marketing for Europe. ‘Designers and their clients want to be able to take confident action, with documented, certified product.’

Thrive matter is independently third party certified by GreenCircle and Carbonfund.org and is available in all of Universal Fibers’ solution-dyed nylon finishes globally, in Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6.
