‘JUST as easy to install,’ LION Floor is an alternative to BS 8203 compliant plywood that’s ‘high-quality, cost-effective and reliable,’ says the company.

For installers used to using plywood for resilient flooring installations but finding variable quality and intermittent availability problematic, LION Floor is said to be the alternative. ‘A high-grade engineered wood fibreboard that’s specifically made for flooring, it’s just as easy to install as plywood,’ says the company.

LION Floor is reportedly pre-conditioned so it doesn’t need wetting before installation, and it can be cut cleanly and quickly with a knife or saw. The company says: ‘Fixed with screws or ring shank nails and suitable for screeds and feather compounds, there’s no longer a reason to choose BS 8203 compliant plywood. LION Floor is one of various fabricated underlays which can be used for LVT and other resilient floor coverings that meets British Standards and CFA guidance.’

The board is said to be supplied in standard sheet sizes and comes in a 4.8mm thickness, the recommended thickness to replace a 6mm plywood according to BS8203 and CFA.
