MAPEI’s range includes various smoothing underlayments developed to promote speed, an easy application and a flawless finish. For fast-track skim-coating and local repairs – and an exceptionally smooth surface down to a ‘feather edge’ – rapid mortars include Mapei’s Planiprep Fix and Planipatch Xtra, says the company, adding, that both products have a very low VOC, ultra-fast drying cementitious formulation. ‘They can be used for various applications and on old and new substrates in commercial, domestic and industrial settings.’
The company continues: ‘Planiprep Fix provides a fast and easy repair and levelling of interior substrates, including screeds, concrete and plywood floors, steps and the corners of columns. It can be applied between 0-4 mm thick and is ideal for smoothing uneven, rough substrates. It can also be used to fill cavities, holes and cracks in load-bearing surfaces and for levelling before the installation of resilient and textile floor coverings. The mortar hardens without tension or cracking out and floorcoverings can be installed after just 30 minutes.’
Adds Mapei: ‘Planipatch Xtra is designed for the local repairs of interior floors, walls, steps, landings and corners. The patching compound can also be used to fill stable voids and cracks and to fast-edge and carry out localised repairs before final smoothing with a self-levelling compound. When used to skim, patch and repair, self-levelling compounds and flooring coverings can be installed after just 45-60 minutes.’
Planiprep Fix and Planipatch Xtra are said to be certified EMICODE EC1 Plus (very low emissions) from GEV and marked with the ‘Blauer Engel’ according to DE-UZ 113.
