The CFA Guide to Sustainability shows how new methods are introduced to flooring industry
THE recently launched sustainability publication produced by Kick-Start Publishing and the CFA, The CFA Guide to Sustainability covers various new methodology of how sustainability is being recognised in the industry and the changes that need to be made. Among those topics, Sebastien Combey, global technical services manager of Unilin BV Flooring Division provided a case study on the progress Unilin has made in France regarding recycling and how his company’s project relates to work carried out by CISUFLO to achieve circularity in the European floorcoverings industry.

BEWI is also taking sustainability initiatives by safeguarding climate and nature. The company is committed to protecting the environment by minimising its production of waste and greenhouse gases along with consistently conserving its resources, treating energy conscientiously and reducing hazardous materials and ensuring they’re used safely. BEWI is also continuously developing eco-friendly products by using low blowing agents with low or zero greenhouse potential.

CFA training manager, Shaun Wadsworth, explains in the guide the importance of the role of training and educating the contract flooring workforce of today and tomorrow about the part they need to play in achieving Net Zero Carbon. If the construction industry is going to meet ‘Net Zero’ targets and play its part in reducing its contribution to climate change, the whole supply chain must pull together. This includes the development of ‘green skills’ which needs to be taught to the industry.
