Instarmac sets out ambitious environmental goals in latest report

WITH Cop26 still dominating our news feeds, climate change and environmental policies are at the forefront of most people’s minds.

During the UN Climate Change Conference, UN secretary-general Antonio Guterres, summed up the current crisis by saying, ‘We must listen – and we must act – and we must choose wisely. On behalf of this and future generations, I urge you: Choose ambition. Choose solidarity. Choose to safeguard our future and save humanity. We face a stark choice: Either we stop it – or it stops us. It’s time to say: enough.’

Instarmac says it’s been saying ‘enough’ for many years and following the success of its 2019/20 report, it says it’s delighted to present the second edition of their Environmental and Social Responsibility Report.

Says the company: ‘Instarmac is passionate about not just creating quality products, but doing so conscientiously and in a way that limits its impact on the environment. As a manufacturer, Instarmac understands how important it is to be as sustainable and environmentally responsible as possible and to constantly challenge manufacturing processes and operations to make further improvements.

‘Instarmac is driven by commercial and financial success, but it also recognises the importance and prioritises the need to do it with integrity and purpose. In 1987, the UN defined sustainability as ‘meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet its own needs.’

Instarmac’s Environmental and Social Responsibility Report highlights how it currently operates and the positive contributions it’s making to meet the needs of the present, while limiting the impact this may have on future generations.

‘Instarmac identifies the need to work sustainably, not just from an environmental perspective, but also with regards to their people and local community.’

In 2019, Instarmac says it set several environmental goals and that it’s pleased to report many of these goals have been reached ahead of schedule. Some include a 15.6% reduction in C02 emissions and a 16% improvement on their carbon footprint. What’s more, all 5 litre bottles are now made from 100% recycled content and throughout 2020 Instarmac drivers returned and recycled about 15,000 pallets which has saved about 1,900 trees.

Instarmac is keen to challenge itself further and have set out several ambitious goals for 2022/23. It aims to increase recycled content in its packaging and product content, reduce its carbon footprint by a further 5% and introduce Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles to its fleet.

These are just some of the environmental aims Instarmac has challenged itself to achieve. To see the list in full, download a copy of its Environmental and Social Responsibility Report by visiting Instarmac.co.uk/about-us/environment.

Sustainability and environmental issues are very important to Instarmac and, the company says, always considered when making business decisions.

‘Just some of the initiatives successfully implemented at Instarmac include using AdBlue for their fleet, increasing the number of hybrid vehicles, investing in Grey Water and Intelligent Lighting Systems, installing solar panels and providing their customers with a pallet recycling scheme.’
