Galliford Try Plc were appointed by Peabody Group to construct a new residential and commercial development. Based at the Bow Enterprise Business Park on Devons Road, the development is being delivered in 4 phases. Phase 4 includes a 19 storey contemporary residential tower incorporating 130 high quality predominantly private sale apartments and a second 7 storey block providing approximately 4000 square metres of flexible office space and meeting rooms for small businesses.
The job/challenge:
The project’s architect, KSS, had a prime focus on creating a comfortable and modern working environment for the office space. The floor plays an important role in creating the right atmosphere and is also subject to a number of practical demands. The floor needed to be resistant to chair castor wheels and regular foot traffic, whilst providing good underfoot comfort and being easy to clean and maintain.
The solution / implementation:
Central Flooring Services Ltd were chosen as the resin flooring contractor and collaborated with Arturo in specifying a suitable floor to meet the architect’s requirements. Arturo were not only able to support Central Flooring Services Ltd with help and guidance but also provide high quality resin samples for the Architects to select the right colour, ‘stylish grey’, for the office ambiance.
Two coats of Arturo EP6950 primer were first applied by Central Flooring Services Ltd to provide a damp proof membrane. This was followed by Arturo PU2060 self-smoothing floor which provides the durability and flexibility of the system. It is also flexible providing exceptional comfort underfoot. Arturo PU3320 a satin seal coat was applied to give the floor a final layer of protection, which aids scratch resistance and provides a fully UV stable finish.
The result:
The new ‘stylish grey’ floor provides a contemporary, distinctive, yet soft finish to the office rooms. The seamless floor makes it easy to clean and provides good resistance to both foot traffic and office furniture. Central Flooring Services Ltd’s standard of work was of the highest quality, allowing the premium quality resin floor to excel. The architect and end user were also extremely satisfied with the final result.
