Alan Aizlewood and Keith Nicholson established the company in 1967. Originally called Aizlewood & Nicholson, they were based in Granellis Yard on Broad Street in Sheffield. The company was founded to provide a fitting service to local department stores and retailers, such as Bradford Woollen, throughout South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. After Keith’s departure from the company, Phil Casson became a director, and the company was renamed Aizlewood & Casson and Incorporated on 1 February 1980.
To mark the company’s 50th business anniversary in 2017, the company rebranded and changed its name to Aizlewoods Flooring Specialists to reflect the Aizlewood family taking full control of the business. Over the past 56 years, it’s expanded to work for various clients in the commercial and public sector. It has extensive experience in the healthcare, education, social housing, leisure, and office refurbishment markets.
The company works all over the UK with much of it around South Yorkshire and Derbyshire. They also regularly work in West Yorkshire, Manchester and occasionally further down south in London. The types of flooring the company installs includes textile and resilient flooring in commercial settings. Other materials they install include Whiterock hygienic wall cladding.
The team particularly works in different large-scale educational and medical, healthcare settings along with leisure and full office refurbishment settings.

The skills of Aizlewoods includes a full team which hold a level 2 NVQ in flooring occupations along with CSCS cards plus many years of experience. Many members have decades of experience on their side.
Fitters of the company upskill regularly by attending bespoke courses by some of its preferred suppliers and manufacturers. It also undergoes extensive health and safety training that’s required, consisting of asbestos awareness, fire warden training, first aid and manual handling.
