Gerflor delivering a range of flooring solutions in retail

ENSURING retail premises and shopping centres are built quickly and ready to trade as soon as possible is a crucial consideration for contractors and their clients. Closing retail premises for any kind of refurbishment is also never seen as a good option owing to the potential loss of business.

Gerflor says it has a raft of solutions aimed at delivering a range of flooring solutions that ‘not only look truly amazing, but also supply incredible levels of performance and speed of installation’.

In the high street, the look of any retail premises is a key concern in delivering the footfall retailers are chasing in terms of turnover; however, the safety aspects of certain spaces in the retail sector are also seen as a major consideration of the overall ‘build’ or refurbishment.

The ‘back-of-house’ areas of shops must be safe for staff and users and limiting the possibility of slips and falls needs to be mitigated if the levels of health and safety in these areas are to be met. Gerflor says it has a host of safety-led flooring solutions that meet these challenges head-on.

This year Gerflor won the 2017 CFJ/CFA Product of the Year category with their Creation LVT collection. In a hard-fought selection process (as voted for by readers of the magazine) it came out on top with its Creation LVT range of products.

Gerflor says: ‘A true testament to amazing designs coupled to incredible levels of performance. The three stunning award-winning ranges include; Creation 70 and 55. Creation 70 will inspire and enhance any interior space. It’s extremely tough and durable, providing the perfect solution for the heaviest commercial footfall.

‘Designed for medium traffic areas for light commercial use is their Creation 55 range. The Creation 55 range is a perfect match for moderate traffic areas in commercial environments including offices, hospitality, restaurants, reception areas, and boutiques.

‘With over-70 years’ experience, Gerflor’s expertise in technical loose lay systems is second to none. Their looselay LVT CLIC System’s unique vertical interlocking format allows flooring to be installed easily and quickly, it can be fitted overnight allowing stores to re-open the very next day.

‘These fast-track products require no adhesives with no need to close the premises, saving time and money and amazingly a two-person team can install up to 200sq m in just eight hours.’

Most supermarkets these days take a hammering when it comes to flooring. It’s a vicious circle of constant footfall and trolleys taking their toll and an environment that’s particularly suited to a hardwearing floor.

Gerflor won the 2016 CFJ/CFA product of the year category with its Taralay Impression Control range. This safety flooring collection is suitable for retail refurbishments and newbuilds.

A multi-purpose floorcovering available in 2m sheet format with a Group T wear rating, it’s ideal for a host of heavy traffic environments where slip resistance is a must.

Available as a dual collection: – ‘Safety in Wood’ and ‘Safety in Design’, the range reportedly includes realistic woods in contemporary colours and modern all over designs.

Taralay Impression Control also has a Pendulum Test value +36, meets HSE guidelines (BS 7976-2), a surface roughness of >20 RTM-RZ and R11 ramp test value (DIN 51130), together with providing 24 design-led colourways and is perfect for a host of retail and shopping centre interiors.

Taralay Impression Control also offers a hygienic solution owing to a revolutionary UV-cured PUR surface treatment for easy cleaning and maintenance.

‘With the Protecsol Control surface treatment it’s easy to clean, is 100% recyclable, offering a state-of-the-art flooring solution for a myriad of retail applications,’ says Gerflor.

‘Add to this our Tarasafe which is a vinyl safety flooring range available in over 80 finishes. It’s reinforced with a glass fibre grid and is suitable for use in all areas of heavy traffic where slip-resistance, durability and hygienic conditions are required.

‘Using mineral crystal particles, rather than the industry standard carborundum, Tarasafe, with its improved performance, is easier to install, lighter and more flexible to handle. The range has a maximum hygiene rating meeting the EN Standard 22196 for anti-bacterial activity (E coli – S aureus – MRSA) (3) returning >99% levels of growth inhibition and comes with a 12-year warranty.’

Tarasafe is stain and chemical resistant and comes with the SparClean surface treatment reportedly meaning no polish for life.

‘Tarasafe is a hugely popular choice for a host of retail environments where slip resistance needs to be maintained. Changing rooms at the rear of many retail premises can often be wet and slippery environments and that’s where Tarasafe Ultra H20 from Gerflor is the ideal solution.

‘Intended for traditional barefoot spaces where there are continuous wet areas, Tarasafe Ultra H²O also offers a shod solution, providing a perfect blend of flooring applications for those back of house staff areas where wet flooring conditions can be an issue.’
