THE CFJ Awards 2027 will take place at the National Conference Centre (NCC) in Birmingham on Thursday 2 September, bringing together the contract flooring industry for an afternoon and evening of celebration, networking and entertainment.
The event will run from late afternoon into the evening, culminating in the presentation of the industry’s most prestigious awards, recognising excellence in installation, innovation, sustainability and individual achievement across the sector.
As in previous years, entries will be assessed by an independent judging panel drawn from across the flooring and construction industries, ensuring the awards maintain the credibility, impartiality and high standards for which they have become renowned. Independent judging has long been a cornerstone of the CFJ Awards, helping to ensure finalists and winners are selected purely on merit.
Guests can expect an evening that combines recognition and celebration with plenty of opportunities to socialise.
Following the awards presentation, attendees will enjoy a sit-down meal before the traditional post-awards festivities, including music, dancing and a chance for the industry to let its hair down after another busy year.
A guest speaker and comedian will once again form part of the entertainment programme, continuing a CFJ Awards tradition that has previously welcomed high-profile names from the worlds of comedy, broadcasting and sport. Recent years have featured personalities including Rory Bremner, Jack Skipper, Hal Cruttenden, Jo Caulfield and Rev Richard Coles.
The National Conference Centre has established itself as a fitting venue for one of the flooring industry’s flagship events, providing a central location where contractors, manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and specifiers can come together to celebrate the achievements of the sector.

Proposed categories for 2027 include Contractor of the Year Installation (up to £100,000, £101,000-£500,000 and £501,000-plus), Technical Installation & Problem Solving, Fast-Track Installation, recognising projects such as overnight retail refits, phased airport terminal works and operational healthcare environments delivered with minimal disruption, and Heritage & Adaptive Re-use.
New people-focused categories are also under consideration, including Rising Star of the Year (Male and Female, under 30), alongside Training Initiative of the Year, recognising outstanding training providers and mentors helping develop the next generation of flooring professionals.
Other proposed additions include an Acoustic & Sensory Wellbeing Award, celebrating projects that enhance comfort, accessibility and occupant wellbeing through flooring design, and a Digital & Operational Innovation Award, recognising the use of technology, site management software, automation and AI to improve project delivery and business performance.
